Botak Jones

Location:
2nd Street Cafeteria
970A Toa Payoh North
Singapore 318997
(Many other outlets. Check website for details)

Website:
http://www.botakjones.com/
It is a bit wordy and informal, but it explains everything.

Introduction:
Judging by its name, bet you are unable to guess what is it trying to sell. Definitely the name is getting some attention. Basically "Botak Jones" is a American boss that sets up the western food outlets at neighbourhood coffeeshops. Botak Jones sells ang mo style western food, at a more affordable price. They have, hot dogs, burgers, "plates", steaks, sandwiches and even desserts! As it's slogan suggests: "Damm Good Food At A Damm Good Price". To me, i raise my both hands for it. It aint really that dirt cheap, its a good range slightly higher than the coffeeshops, much lower than cafes and restaurants. And it provides quality of cafe and probably, restaurants!

Operating Hours:
Everyday 11:00 am till 10:00 pm (For this outlet)

What's Good:
Friendly crew and they explains well. Don't worry if you have doubts about the menu.

Everything that i have tried (Each main dish is served with choice of 2 side dishes, except for fish and chips):
The chips(fries) are good - it has a really special slighty spicy powder on them and the texture of the chips are not overdone.
Fish and chips - no funny smell or taste that spoils the dish. Basically 1 word - Fresh!
Cajun chicken- looks a bit messy with the presentation, but the sauce and the juiciness cant be explained
Black pepper chicken - Not a lot of sauce on the chicken but it is well marinated that the black pepper and the chicken has become one.

What's not so Good:
The menu. Too wordy and no pictures. Its is filled with paragraphs of descriptions. But i think they have it on the website and some photos too. And not to worry since everything is good.

The slightly long waiting and serving time. It is due to its popularity, not because they are slow. But it is worth waiting for for good food, isn't it?

Note: fish and chips + cajun chicken + black pepper chicken = approx $22

What's Good:
The tables are well maintained. I saw them dusting and cleaning them early in some random morning. I suppose they do that everyday.

The cues are unique and straight- with threading. This means better grip for the players.

The balls are well maintained. They are cleaned frequently and hence you seldom see chalk stains on them.

There is a 2 layered wooden box under every table for the players to safe keep their belongings.

The snack bar auntie comes round taking your orders and delivers food to your side table. Saves trouble walking to the counter and the food are also not expensive.

What's not so Good:
They have a toilet does not ventilate very well. It also kinda serve as a store.

The lift is not easy to find. FYI: It is located next to the security counter.

Comments:
He is a overseas Korean who plays his guitar and sings well. He likes to play and sings with a little bit of twist. Occasionally he plays his own songs, most of them are meaningful, some with explcit content. He doesnt smiles for some reason that i dont know why - well i just take it that by smiling, that will affect the professionalism of performing. Personally i like his songs and the way that he presents with a little friendly attitude. Sometimes i do feel he need to enhace a little bit on his volume.

Ice3 Cafe (Ice Cube Cafe)

Location:
11 Kensington Park Road
Serangoon Garden Estate
Singapore 557263
(diagonally opposite of Chomp Chomp, along the same row of 7 Eleven.)

Website:
http://www.ice3cafe.com/

Introduction:
Just as the name suggests, it is a eatery that sells cold stuff. Actually they focus on their freshly baked waffle, not forgetting super-premium ice cream. On top of that they also have main courses. The ambience is good and really has an ice cream cafe feeling. I think it is ideal for gathering and a good place to talk after you visit Chomp Chomp - for desserts and a cooling place to talk.

Operating Hours:
Monday to Friday: 4pm – 1am
Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays: 10am – 1am

What's Good:
The waffle is not soft and soggy. I felt that it taste better then the Gal***'s.
They have a large variety of ice cream. Which many of them are the less common flavours. I should say, even the chocolate ice cream is different from the others.
The syrup is nice and fragrant. (I chose butterscotch).
They have some promotions that would be able to attract customers.
They also have an online store which would provide great solutions and something special for catering.

What's not so Good:
Ice3's Location is rather hard to reach. But well, still many goes to Chomp Chomp right?
The main course that was ordered was nothing really special, but it is a ice cream cafe - remember?

Note: 2 Waffles with ice cream + 2 Main course + 1 smoothie = approx $43

Comments:
I know this movie has been out for quite some time and people may find the objective of posting this review pointless. I think it is okay as i just want to share my point of views to those who may be interested in the released DVD or VCD.

I find this movie quite nice. It is a little bit like a sad love story. I think that the girls will like it and the boys will not. Some people find the movie boring because there are many issues that seems to be rather "weird". The answer will only be revealed in the last part of the movie. There is also a slight twist of the movie at the conclusion. It seems to be abit ridiculous when compared that it will not happen in reality. However i felt that it is, at least, an interesting ending.

When compared to many other moives that is released nowadays, i felt that this is one of the movie that is worth my tickets. Personally i love this movie. It is highly recommended that you all should take a look at it.

Introduction:
When Tiong Barhu Market has reopened in 2006, it is no longer not a market that is stinky. It has changed. One thing that has n
ot changed is the nice food out there. Things has just changed for the better. all the Tiong Bahru favourites, including chwee kuay, fried kway tow and roasted meats, are still keeping the masses happy. There are 83 hawker stalls on the second storey of the three-storey building. The first storey - wet market and retail stalls) and there are 1,440 seats. 3rd

The food. There are so many choices there that one cant finish in a week!

The cleanliness - no longer wet and dirty and smelly.

Better facilities - Escalators, lifts and car park.

What’s not so Good:

Too much queue. Have to spend some time for good food.
